Wrestling Sessions and Offerings

All practices are held in the Vista Del Lago High School wrestling room (last building on the left attached the gymnasium) at 1970 Broadstone Pkwy., Folsom, CA

Winter Youth Folkstyle Session

Dates: November 14th – February 22nd

Practices: Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Info: This session is our main folkstyle season for youth wrestlers in Elementary school and will feature many opportunities to compete for those wishing to (local, state, and national). This session will also serve as supplemental practices for middle school wrestlers who are looking for additional mat time to compliment the practices being offered from their middle school wrestling teams. In the elementary session we will focus on the foundational techniques that lead to long-term success and safety in the sport of wrestling. In the middle school session we will teach more advanced techniques that will compliment what wrestlers are learning at their middle school practices as well as provide individualized instruction to our members so they can start to develop their style as a wrestler.

Fall Folkstyle Session

Dates: September 5th – October 19th

Practices: Tuesdays and Thursdays

4:00 pm – 5:30 pm (Middle/High School) *advanced elementary school w/ coaches permission.
5:30 pm-  6:30 pm (Elementary School)

Info: This session is designed to help wrestlers continue to develop and hone their techniques during the fall months. This session will focus on developing effective wrestling sequences starting from basic entry points to advanced options in the position. Strength/conditioning is also a pivotal focus during this session as most athletes prepare for the start of their middle school and high school seasons. There is local as well as travel competition opportunities available for wrestlers who choose to compete at this time. Our elementary aged session will focus on the FUNdamentals!

Spring Freestyle/Greco-Roman Session

Dates: March 14th – May 26th

Practices: Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Info: This session is designed to teach wrestlers both the basic and more advanced techniques of the olympic styles of wrestling: Freestyle and Greco-Roman. Freestyle has an emphasis on lower body attacks while Greco-Roman only permits upper body attacks and throws. Folkstyle will still continue to be taught during this session as some athletes will be training for Folkstyle Nationals and Reno Worlds concurrently. Wrestlers training in freestyle/greco will be able to compete locally at SAWA tourneys as well as at the CA State Championships and Fargo Nationals tournaments. Strength/Conditioning practices will also be available for those interested. Private lessons are available during these dates as well at an additional cost.

Summer Folkstyle/Grappling Session

Dates: June 6th- July 28th

Practices: Tue/Thurs: 5:00 pm-6:30 pm

Info: This session is designed to help wrestlers continue to develop and hone their wrestling techniques during the summer months. This session will focus on developing effective wrestling sequences starting from basic entry points to advanced options in the position. Strength/conditioning is also a pivotal focus during these sessions. In addition to wrestling techniques Coach Richmond will teach the basics of submission grappling and self-defense with a focus on techniques that will complement their wrestling but also provide the foundational skills of submission grappling and mixed martial arts. Technique camps and competition camps will be available as well at discounted prices for club members. Private lessons are available during these dates as well at an additional cost.
